Speed Tests

Postby Admin » Sun Aug 28, 2016 6:56 am

In anticipation of FTTP being delivered to those who have purchased and booked their engineer I thought I would start a new thread for Speed Tests.

If and when you get connected please post your speed test here for others to see. Its advantages so we can see if there are any issues with speeds across the village and to establish if there is any "throttling" down the lines.

One site you can check and view other speed stats is: https://www.uswitch.com/broadband/speedtest/streetstats/

Or via your mobile phone and just post on here....

Looking forward to the speeds!

Agreed, I was informed by bt though that fttp does not cross wifi at greater than 80mb.
To see full fttp test on a hard wired connection

Well this isn't fair is it.... Jobe has ordered the 330mb package!

Will do though.

The first engineer that came out didn't know what he was doing but 2 engineers turned up this morning and got the external part fitted.

I've had two engineers too this morning checking where they are going to place the fibre into the house due to the bridleway we live on. They seem very happy and will either fit it today or tomorrow. Ive also managed to get the BT phone box into the house moved to accommodate the extra wiring they we will be getting...all systems go so far.

Fibre Box now fitted to the external wall ready for BT to come and run a wire from it into the house.

I was at work when they initially started, got a call and popped home!

They had run the cable straight from the BT Wire from the pole and down the CTR of the Gable wall, it looked horrible!

I asked and they agreed to move it along the Gable Soffits and cable tie it to the rear of the drain down spouts on the side wall, and it now looks neat and tidy.

They do say that the box has to be ground'ish height as there is too much wiring to faff about with ontop a ladder.

The box receives the fibre from the pole and then a second wire is run from the box back up to the entry point into your home.

I found the openreach guys to be pleasant and co-operative.

The cable they fit is the housing cable that BT then blow fibre through, so cannot have too tight a bend in it's run etc

Exciting Times!!!!

Well Done!

Its been a very very long slog.

From the days of Dial up at 500kb when everyone else went to ADSL, then from my abinternet WIFI at 8mb when everyone else went to FTTC.

Never thought I would see such speeds in Lixwm, I always thought we would end up on a cab with FTTC and then probably near to 30 - 40mb speeds in house.

73 is excellent, and I am holding my breath for my first speed test after my 300mb package is installed.

Brilliant news. How did you get it so soon?

I have 1 whole day of fibre then I'm away for 10 days.
